Level 3
The Bridge Year

The Goal
Exploration and exposure.

The Experience
This is a year of discovery where students begin to interact with the Four Luminari Pathways through a whimsical lens.

Core Requirements

Levels 4 & 5
Expansion & Declaration

The Goal
Academic identity and college readiness.

Nexus

Philosophy & Debate

We do not teach our students what to think; we teach them how to think and how to say it with conviction.

Philosophy and Debate is a required course beginning in Level 3 (Grade 6) as a foundational part of our Humanities core curriculum. In a world of infinite noise and automated opinions, the ability to think critically and communicate clearly is the ultimate competitive advantage.

Why We Require It
We believe that if you raise a child who is compassionate, curious, and capable of independent thought, the "subjects" will take care of themselves. This course is designed to build the three pillars of a Global Mindset.

Critical Thinking
Students learn to dismantle complex ideas, identify logical fallacies, and build "audit-proof" arguments.

Human Connection
By practicing civil debate, students learn to replace misunderstanding with connection—learning that you can disagree with an idea without dehumanizing the person behind it.

Global Awareness
We explore the philosophical questions that have challenged humanity since the beginning of time, providing the context needed to lead in a diverse, globalized society.

Where Perspective Meets Purpose

The Humanitarian Core

Because we are humanitarian-driven, all World School students (Level 3+) participate in our core humanities curriculum.

World Religions & Culture

A historical exploration of global belief systems that have influenced civilizations since the beginning of time.

At Luminari, we believe that to understand where we are going, we must understand the foundational beliefs that have shaped where we have been.

Why We Teach It
We are raising the next generation of global leaders, and a Global Mindset requires more than just knowing maps; it requires knowing the heart of the cultures within them.

Perspective Over Compliance
We examine how belief systems have influenced law, art, conflict, and community across millennia.

Historical Context
This is not a study of theology, but a rigorous historical look at the ideas that built the world’s greatest civilizations.

Critical Thinking
By studying the diverse ways humanity has sought meaning, students learn to approach the world with curiosity rather than judgment.

*Parents can choose to teach from a secular worldview or faith-based.
